Film to highlight Modi’s bond with mother Hiraben, set for multilingual release
New Delhi, Sept 17 – For Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday Silver-Cast Creations has announced a new biographical film. Called 'Maa Vande', the project will feature a distinctive narrative. It will be acted out by none other than celebrated Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan and concerns his relationship with mother Hiraben Modi.
The film’s tagline, “The story of a man who brought revolution beyond wars for ages,” positions the project as an inspirational journey rather than a conventional political biopic.Unlike earlier portrayals, Maa Vande aims to explore Modi’s personal life, especially the formative role Hiraben played in shaping his character. “People know Modi the politician, but few know Modi the son. We want to show the human side of a leader,” said producer Veer Reddy M.
The film will trace Modi’s journey from childhood to his rise as Prime Minister, but the mother-son bond will remain central throughout.
Cast and Crew
The project will be directed by Kranti Kumar CH, with Veer Reddy M producing. The team has promised a large-scale production enhanced with advanced VFX work. The film will release in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and regional versions, signaling ambitions for both domestic and international audiences.
Unni Mukundan, recently noted for his performance in Marco, said stepping into Modi’s shoes was a “huge responsibility.” The actor is expected to undergo a significant physical and behavioral transformation for the role.Producers have not disclosed the film’s shooting schedule or release date. Casting for other pivotal roles, including Hiraben Modi, is also yet to be revealed. The Malayalam film industry, meanwhile, is proud to see one of their actors taking on such a high-profile Hindi film project.
For now, all eyes are on how the makers will handle such a sensitive subject and whether they can create something that appeals to audiences across political lines.
Industry Context
This will not be the first Modi biopic. In 2019, Vivek Oberoi starred in PM Narendra Modi, which drew controversy for its release timing near the general elections. Unlike that political-centered narrative, Maa Vande appears set to emphasize personal relationships over electoral achievements.
Political biopics have historically seen mixed success at the box office. Observers note that the reception of Maa Vande may influence whether filmmakers continue investing in political biographies.
The announcement has already stirred debate online. Supporters have welcomed another cinematic tribute to Modi, while skeptics question the need for a second biopic within a decade. Meanwhile, the Malayalam film industry has expressed pride in one of its actors taking on such a high-profile Hindi project
