Story and Inspiration
Marvel Zombies takes inspiration from the Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips comics, and builds on the alternate timeline introduced in Marvel’s What If...? series.The narrative follows a deadly zombie plague from the Quantum Realm, infecting the Avengers and several Marvel heroes. Survivors including Shang-Chi, Katy, Yelena Belova, and others unite to fight the relentless undead threat.

This miniseries carries a TV-MA rating, marking Marvel Animation’s first entry into mature storytelling. Known for intense gore, horror themes, and a grim tone, Marvel Zombies stands apart from the MCU’s lighter animated ventures.
